Antonia Petra Edwards

Antonia (Toni) Edwards, 83 of Burley, went to be home with Jesus on December 9, 2018.  Toni was born on February 1, 1935 in Cidra, Puerto Rico to Ramon and Felicita Franco. She came to the United States at the young age of 12 and lived in Forks, Washington. She was a long time resident of Burley, Idaho where she was employed with JR Simplot for 25 years. 

Toni was a dedicated Christian woman with a quick wit and sense of humor.  She devoted herself to her family, friends and serving the Lord.  She possessed a true servant’s heart, faithfully caring for others through baking and giving hand-crafted presents. She had the gift of hospitality, welcoming guests into her home and making sure they didn’t leave hungry.  

In retirement she enjoyed camping, fishing and estate sales with her husband Jim Edwards. Her other passions included baking, crafting, sewing, crocheting, gardening, making jewelry and bird watching.  She treasured her collection of angels, figurines, house plants, salt & pepper shakers, magnets, and was known in the community for her elaborate holiday yard displays. Toni was also an avid volunteer at Highland Estates, Golden Heritage Senior Center, MVCC Food Pantry and the Office on Aging.   Toni loved the Lord and was very involved with her church. She was a dedicated and active member at First Baptist Church in Burley, where she served in the fellowship ministry and was well known as the “coffee lady”.  

Toni was preceded in death by her husband Jim Edwards. She is survived by her 5 children; son, Richard (Myra) Espinosa of Everett, WA; son Michael (Sherri) Espinosa of Pocatello, ID; daughter, Melinda (Tom) McCorkle of Bremerton, WA; daughter, Melissa Espinosa (Paul Ockerman) of Olympia, WA; daughter, Sonya (Rick) Willison of Twin Falls, ID; 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

She will be dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her Creator.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at the First Baptist Church at 2262 Hiland Ave, Burley, ID at 1:00 pm.  Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.morrisonpayne.com
