Janie Ella Self

Janie Ella Self, 93, of Burley passed away May 9, 2018. She was born April 2, 1925 in Roaring Springs, Texas. Her parents were William and Rosa Ella Moore. Janie’s childhood homes were Texas and Oklahoma. She married A.D. Self and together they had six children. As a married woman she lived in many states in the west. Her last home was in Heyburn, Idaho.

Janie was a hard worker all her life. One of her first jobs was as a welder on big ships during World War II. Besides raising her children she worked at other various jobs. She loved camping, flower gardening, and watching birds in her yard. Spending time with family was the most important thing to her.

She is survived by her children Tom Self (Marlene), Gayle Gestrin (Tom Ward), Donna Jones, Marc Self (Elaine), and Carol Ann Rogers. Her grandchildren are Erik Self, Keith Self, Lisa Ennis, Aaron Christensen, Mikelle Self, Crystal Self, Brittney Self, Kaitlyn Biermann, Kelsey Rogers, and Missy Hepworth. Thirteen great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother J.C. Moore of Zafra, Oklahoma.

Janie was preceded in death by her son Frank D. Self, her husband, A.D. Self, her parents, her two brothers, and her two sisters.

Memorial Services will be held 2:00 p.m. May 19, 2018 at Morrison Payne Funeral Home in Burley, Idaho. Arrangements are under the direction of Joel Heward Morrison Payne Funeral Home.
