Karen Hale Obituary

Karen Ann Hale, 69 year old Burley resident, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014 at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls. Karen was born on November 12, 1944 to Stella Bell Baird and Fred Arthur Slippey in Susanville, California. Karen had six Brothers, Fred Arthur, Edward Gene, Alan Lee, Charles Roy, David Lowell, Woodrow Ray Prichett; one Sister Mary Katherine Pannell. Karen Married Carol Ollie Hale on December 22, 1961 and together they had six Children; Stella Ann (Rupert), Joy Lynn, (Sublett), Carol Ollie Jr. (Burley), Sam Fred, George Allen (Burley), Billy Joe (Alaska). Karen was blessed with sixteen Grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. Mom and Dad bought a gas station and named it “Karen’s Quik Pik”. They sold it after Dad was robbed at gunpoint. Mom worked at Connors Café, Burley Livestock ,Valley Livestock, Burley Inn, South Idaho Press, and Avon. When dad passed away mom started going to church more often and was Baptized. She said it was one of her BEST times in life. She enjoyed helping out at Vacation Bible School and any where they needed her help. Mom liked canning and made lots of jelly and gave to many friends. Mom loved going fishing and often went to Rock Creek and Oakley. She also liked doing embroidery and latch hook and going to Joy’s house in Sublett for potluck. She was an avid bowler, winning many awards. Her and dad liked going for rides and mom liked going down to jackpot to the concerts and pulling the handle. She collected bells and teacups from different states and countries. You hardly ever saw her without her little dog tiny inside her shirt. Karen was proceeded in death by her husband, Carol; parents Stella and Fred; her stepmother, Virginia; brothers Fred, David; son Sam; granddaughter Maria; daughter- in- law Robin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the Grace Community Center, 100 N. Meridian in Rupert. Burial will follow in the Pella Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at the Morrison Payne Funeral Home, 321 East Main Street and one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Payne Funeral Home 321 East Main Street, Burley.
