Marjorie Dalton Obituary

BURLEY- MARJORIE H. DALTON
Marjorie Harper Dalton 83, long time Burley resident passed away peacefully September 01, 2014 at her home. She was born March 20, 1931 in Sublett, Idaho. She was the daughter of Richard Golden & Ruby Nelda Rigby Harper. Their family then moved to Oakley, Idaho where she grew up and graduated from Oakley High School, as a proud hornet. She then attended Utah State University and became a proud Aggie. She was always grateful she was able to gain an education in business and she used that through out her life. She then moved back to Burley and started her working career. That is when she met and fell in love with William S (Bill) Dalton. They were married in Oakley Idaho on May 8th, 1953. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on March 08, 1954.
Mom loved working, she loved being around people. She worked for many years as a secretary for Joe Preston Insurance Agency then the company was sold to Zane Parker Insurance Agency and then to Lloyd Hamilton Agency. She handled all the farm insurance packages and took personal interest in all her accounts and making sure the farmers were insured and taken care of. She then had a opportunity to switch gears and started working for Lex Kunau at Cassia County Abstract. She loved her job and loved working in the abstract field. She always did her best in serving the public, but she always prided herself in a good days work, and making sure every title search and home closing was as perfect as it could get. After Cassia Abstract closed, mom retired for a little while, but got a little restless and then she started working for Morrison Payne Funeral Home part-time and that was a perfect fit. It became her second home and she prided herself in helping with the families and making sure everything went according to how it should. Those qualities of hard work and dedication carried over in her spiritual side of life. Mom loved serving. She was currently serving as the Ward Librarian. The job she loved, because she got to see almost everyone in the ward and also the other ward that shares our building. Throughout her life she served in numerous calling in the church, Relief Society President, Primary President, Counselor in the Young Women, but her most favorite calling was a Visiting Teacher. Serving her sisters on her Visiting Teaching list was her greatest joy, but mom was always willing to serve at anytime or anywhere she was needed. She loved attending the temple and for many years she would ride the temple bus to Boise. She was very grateful when the Twin Falls Temple was built because then the bus ride wouldn’t be so long. Mom loved the gospel and applied the principles of it in her life everyday.
Mom loved her family, they were her greatest joy. She was supportive in everything they did, whether sitting in deathly cold football games, sitting in hot auditoriums watching a play, or going to windy baseball games, band concerts, volleyball games, basketball games, softball games, she was always there and you could count on her support. Mom loved to laugh, having a good time was always important to her. There was always a smile on her face and you could count on that no matter what.
She is survived by her children, Kent Harper (Ronda) Dalton, Tucson Arizona, William Kay Dalton of Burley and Karen (Rick) Dayley of Burley. Her sisters, Sharon (Jerry) Adams, Nelda Adams, LaVonda Hansen, Shirley Hubbard and brother Dale Harper. She has 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and one sister.
