Alta Rose Mumford Lloyd - a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints passed away December 27, 2015 in Burley, Idaho at the age of 92. She was born to John H. and Nellie Rose Herzog Mumford on April 10, 1923 in Border, Wyoming, where she grew to the ripe age of 17, when she was swept away from her horse and hay rake by Carl John Lloyd on Sept. 27, 1940. They were married that evening, after milking time, by the Bishop, in Ovid, Idaho. They began their married life in Almo, Idaho, where the first three children were born. Later they moved to Border, Wyoming where the last three children were added to the family. Finally they settled in Burley, Idaho where they spent the rest of their lives together.
She is survived by her children Lonnie Carl (Judy), Nolan Willis (Jeraldine), John Dale (Cathy), Von Weston (Dena), Carla Jean (Dale), 25 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl John, and her son Joel Bennett who died a few weeks after birth.
Funeral services will be held at the Morrison Payne Funeral Home, 321 East Main Street in Burley on Monday, January 4, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with a viewing at beginning at 9:00 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at the Sunny Cedar Rest Cemetery in Almo, Idaho.
