Betty Hambleton Obituary

Betty Mae Hambleton, formerly known as Betty Mae Bodenhofer, of Burley, Idaho, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, at the age of 88.

Born in Magna, Utah, Betty was raised in Hailey, Idaho, by her parents, Mabel Aldridge and Fred Bodenhofer. She graduated from Hailey High School as an honor roll student, carrying with her the values of faith, resilience, and hard work that shaped her life. Growing up, Betty attended church faithfully every Sunday, and she was always proud of the strong spiritual foundation those early years gave her.

Betty was first married to John “Jack” Vlahos, with whom she had two children, Rick Vlahos and Robyn Vlahos Erickson. After Jack’s passing, she later married Robert “Bob” Hambleton, with whom she shared many joyful years until his death in January of this year. Through their marriage, she also became a beloved part of Bob’s children’s lives—Rob, Danny, Howie, and Shari.

From a young age, Betty’s dedication and work ethic shone brightly. As a teenager, she worked as a soda jerk at the local drugstore and as an usher at the Hailey theater. She later built a successful career, first as a lawyer’s secretary and then with Land Title and Escrow, where her commitment and perseverance led her to become a partner. Alongside Bob, Betty also played a vital role in building and co-owning Woodstone, their family business, reflecting her determination, loyalty, and entrepreneurial spirit. She retired in her mid-to-late 60s, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and devotion.

The last of four sisters to pass, Betty faced life’s hardships with unwavering strength. She endured the devastating losses of both a husband and a son to suicide, yet she never stopped extending kindness, loyalty, and compassion to others. A throat cancer survivor, she embodied perseverance, resilience, and a steadfast faith.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Robyn Vlahos Erickson; her brother, Mike Bodenhofer (Connie ), her grandchildren, Tyson Drew (Brittany)and Logan Urrizaga (Shalyssa), her sweet pea Alysun Urrizaga. and many grand-children and great-grandchildren. She especially treasured time spent with family—cooking, sharing stories, and showering her grandchildren with love. She also had a passion for football, joyfully cheering on her Seattle Seahawks, often winning her fantasy league, and hosting family gatherings during the holidays.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Hambleton; her firstborn son, Rick Vlahos; her mother, Mabel Aldridge; her three sisters, Colleen, Arlene, and Winifred; and many dear friends who now welcome her home.

Above all, Betty will be remembered for her warmth, loyalty, and the love she poured into her family and friends. She was a beacon of light, a source of comfort, and a true example of perseverance and devotion. She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by many.
