Daryl Davis Whitehead, age 81, passed away Friday, December 25, 2020 surrounded by his family at home.
Daryl was born September 16, 1939 to Clarence Cecil and Vera Davis Whitehead in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the youngest of 3 boys. He lived and attended school in the Salt Lake City area throughout his childhood. He graduated from Murray High School in 1958. He then served in the Mexico and California missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His mission served to set the basis of his testimony and the direction for how he would live the rest of his life. On February 22,1962 in the Salt Lake City Temple, he was sealed to Dorothy Ellen Steele. They were blessed with eight children: four boys and four girls. Throughout his life he loved working in his yard, studying church history and later in life creating and painting things. Daryl loved to work during his life he worked in grocery store management, owned his own car sales, towing and repair business, as well as spending many years in the real estate business. He was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various callings including; bishop and temple worker in the Twin Falls Temple.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy; seven children Todd (Becky) Whitehead Burley, Idaho, Tracy (Lisha) Whitehead Burley, Idaho, Terri (Clifford) Searle Burley, Idaho, Trisha (James) Aland Alpine California, Trent (Stacy) Whitehead Burley, Idaho, Heather Whitehead Burley, Idaho, Tiffany (Brett) Garcia Santee, California, Tawna (Anthony) Baumgardner Vernal, Utah; 42 Grandchildren and 36 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Tyler Davis and brothers Val and Calvin Whitehead.
A private family service will be held Thursday, December 31st at 11:00 am, with a public viewing from 10:00 am -10:45 am prior to the service at the Springdale LDS Church 519 E 200 S. Services are under the direction of Joel Heward – Morrison Payne Funeral Home.
