Dennis Pharris Obituary

Dennis Guy Pharris, 79, passed away after a short battle with cancer on April 13, 2024, at Mini Cassia Care Center in Burley, ID. with family by his side.

He was born on April 9, 1945, in Del Norte, CO and was adopted at the age of 7 by Harold (Pat) and Virginia Pharris.  He grew up in Hazelton, ID and attended Valley High School.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1968.  He received an honorable discharge and was recognized for his sharp shooting skills.

He met and married his wife, Elaine Lewis on May 17, 1969; and they raised three daughters.

He loved the outdoors.  Fishing, hunting, and trips to the family cabin in Stanley, ID, were his favorite things to do.

Dennis never met a stranger.  He would give the shirt off his back and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.  He was a jack of many trades, driving truck, farming, mechanic, and construction work.  While driving truck he was known by his CB handle “Johnny Popper”.

He was preceded in death by both parents, his wife Elaine and his grandson Ryan.  He is survived by his daughters Shelly Ruiz, Sonia (Reed) Gibson, Trudy (Mark) Gratzer, his sisters Alice Mall, Joyce Tipton, Melissa Beresford, his brother Russell (Tessie) Pharris, 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

No public services will be held.  There will be a private family gathering held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Payne Funeral Home.
