Donald Dean “Butch” Hayden , 88, of Heyburn passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was born in Declo, Idaho on June 15, 1936 to Carl and Anna Doerflinger Hayden. He was the third child of three boys, Marvin and Wayne Hayden, who are both deceased along with their parents.
Butch grew up in the Declo- Heyburn area and attended school in Heyburn.
Butch married Sharon Skiff on April 2, 1954. They have been married for 70 ½ years. Together they had five children. Mike (Gwen-deceased), Cindy (Leroy) Bartlome, Gaye (Terry) Johnson, Ray (Cheri-deceased), Patty (Kelly) Heinze. He treasured the time he spent with his 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Butch owned and operated Hayden Plumbing. He spent countless hours servicing many homes and businesses in the Mini-Cassia area.
Early on he took his young family to his parent’s home every Sunday, having homecooked dinner by his mom and horseback riding. If not there, weekends were spent camping and trail riding in the South hills. He had a hand in starting the archery club in Burley and belonged to the Cavalier Riding Club. He was an avid team roper winning many belt buckles, money pots and a saddle for being the high money winner with the Malta Roping Club. They actually delivered the saddle to his hospital room while he was there for a small blood clot. He enjoyed all the people he met traveling around to all the different rodeos and roping events. Butch enjoyed snowmobiling and golfing. He got his first hole in one the very first time he ever golfed. He was hooked! Butch learned to play the mandolin and enjoyed jamming with his cousins and did a little square dancing. Everything Butch did, Sharon was right there by his side.
The family would like to thank Dr. Christiansen and the nursing staff at Cassia Hospital,
All family and friends are invited to a luncheon in honor of “Butch” , husband, father, grandfather, friend at Morey’s Steak House, Burley on Thursday, December 5, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
