Donna Jean (Barnes) Terry

Burley, Idaho - Donna Jean Barnes Terry - On September 18, 2019 Donna Terry, slipped away quietly after a long battle with declining health. She is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil; her parents, Dorothy and William Barnes; many siblings; and her son, Dennis. What a joyful reunion she must be having in her new home!

 Donna was born September 10, 1931 in Arco Idaho, to Dorothy and William Barnes. She joined seven siblings in a family that would eventually grow to four daughters and eight sons. There was not always a lot of money, but there was ample laughter and fun. Donna loved to play card games with her mother, when they would laugh until they cried. She was only 17 when her mother died from a long-time heart condition, exactly one week after Donna's high school graduation. Her world was never quite the same. 

 About this time she met and began dating Cecil Terry, from Rigby, Idaho. He became the love of her life and on January 13, 1953 they married in the Idaho Falls temple in a double ceremony with Jack, Donna's brother and Jean, Cecil's sister. Donna and Cecil eventually became the parents of nine children, whom they raised on the family farm north of Paul, Idaho.

 Donna was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in Mutual and Relief Society, being called more than once as the Relief Society President in her ward. Having a peaceful Sunday was very important to her. Saturday chores in her home were clearly defined and mandatory, ensuring that the Sabbath was a day of rest. She loved the gospel and lived it faithfully her entire life.

 Donna had many gifts and talents; she was an amazing seamstress, a wonderful homemaker, an organized leader, and a loving and loyal friend.  She was unfailingly giving, sharing what she had with anyone in need. She will be sorely missed.

 Donna is survived by 36 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her eight children, Cecilia (Jim) Staten, Charles (Gretchen) Terry, Randy (Nancy) Terry, Russell (Kim) Terry, Doug (Jennifer) Terry, Jeanele (David) Roberts, Laralee (Jeff) Schroeder, and Donovan (Melanie) Terry.

 A viewing will be held at the Morrison Payne Funeral Home at 321 East Main Street in Burley, Idaho on Thursday, September 26th from 6:00-8:00pm. and one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.

 Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 27th at 11:00am in the LDS chapel at 2200 Oakley Avenue in Burley, Idaho. Interment will follow in the Paul, Idaho Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Payne Funeral Home in Burley.
