Edith Day Obituary

Edith Beth Day Former lifelong resident of Burley, Idaho was greeted by a host of family and friends into Heavenly Fathers kingdom on February 3, 2016. She was born on March 23, 1926 in Emerson, Idaho to James Franklin and Inez May Babbitt Harris. She came from a family of fourteen. When she was just a young child her brothers nicknamed her "Suzy" and that is the name she was known by throughout her life. She married Donald Elmer Day from Oakley, Idaho on Oct. 28, 1942. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls, Idaho LDS Temple on December 18, 1965. They were the happy parents of two children, Donald Elmer Day, Jr. whom Suzy called her "Danny Boy' and Debra E. Day. Suzy worked side by side with her husband in the fields and potato cellars for many of her younger years to purchase their home in Burley. She also worked as a manager of a Department store until her health failed and she was no longer able to do hard physical labor due to degenerative disc disease. Suzy loved to cook and to bake pies. She was well known for her pies throughout the Magic Valley area. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery work and making quilts. All of which she did with her mother. She made a special quilt for each of her siblings and children. She especially enjoyed her rose garden. If you couldn't find Don or Suzy, they were usually out in their large yard attending to the beautiful flowers and trees. Suzy lived in Burley until the death of her husband in 2007 and then moved to Pleasant Grove, Utah to be with her son and daughter in-law. Suzy served in numerous callings in the LDS church in the 3rd, 5th and 6th wards. Among those callings she served as Young Women's President and held many teaching positions. If there was a ward dinner to put together she was at the heart of it. She was a big support for her husband when he served in the bishopric. Suzy and Don loved to dance and whenever there was a ward dance they could be found on the dance floor doing the jitterbug. Suzy was preceded in death by her parents, twelve siblings, her husband and her grandson Rdean Day. She is survived by her children of Pleasant Grove, Utah, Donald E. (Ella) Day Jr. and Debra E. Day, her sister Shirley (Emerd) James of Burley, Idaho. Her grandsons Thayne and Clinton Day of American Fork, Utah, Dana Day of Casper, Wyoming and four great grandchildren. And a lifelong friend, June (Paskett) Rasmussen of Burley, Idaho. Suzy fought hard the last few years of life to endure to the end and she lacked just forty nine days of turning ninety. She had a great love for life and her family. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten. A mother's love can never be replaced. Our mother had unconditional love for each of her children. She was full of compassion and always in the service of others.

Funeral services were held February 12, 2016 with burial at the Paul Cemetery.
