Hazel Amelia Hartwig Vodicka, 90, of Burley passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023. Hazel was born on March 20, 1933 to Charles and Ethelyn Hartwig. She was a breath of spring air, born in Shell Lake, Wisconsin. She had 5 sisters and 1 brother. Gord, Tood, Laine, Myth, Pete, and Inie. Her first jobs were picking up pins at the local bowling alley and making pancakes at a restaurant serving the Ranchers, at the age of 13. At 15 she met and married Bill Mortensen. They had a farm in Shell Lake and had twenty milking cows. Along with that they had fields of hay that Hazel would buck to get hay up on the tractor trailer. They were married for 18 years. After they divorced, Hazel met Dr. Harvey Vodicka and had one daughter named Lizabeth Ann. She was also blessed with 3 step kids, David Vodicka, Deborah Johnson, and Denise Monos. Hazel had several grandkids, one in particular Brogan Grey Sharp lived within walking distance of her house in Meridian, Idaho. Hazel was a Jehovah’s Witness. She loved garage saleing, gardening, and going to McDonalds for ice cream.
Dr. Harvey Vodicka and Hazel had a thriving Chiropractic and Homeopathic business in Great Falls, Mt. She was the assistant and learned how to develop x-rays. They later moved to Burley and ran the practice there. They were married 58 years till he passed away. They had moved to Meridian, Idaho in 1998 to be with Lizabeth and Brogan.
Hazel is preceded in death by Gordon Hartwig (brother), Elaine Treis (sister), and Mary Roberts (sister).
Hazel is survived by Edith Henderson (sister), Luella DeBoer (sister), and Darlene Canfield (sister).

A Memorial Service for Hazel will be held September 23, 2023 at Tim and Dana Hulls residence in Burley, Idaho. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Payne Funeral Home in Burley.
