Helen Taylor Obituary

Helen (Hunter) Taylor, 83, died on December 6, 2021 in Rupert, Idaho. Helen was born in Oakley, Idaho on August 6, 1938, the daughter of James LeRoy Hunter and Ella Mina (Helms) Hunter. Helen was the oldest of five children, including three younger brothers, Leslie, James, Herbert and one younger sister, LaRae. She attended school in Oakley, Idaho and the College of Southern Idaho. During her lifetime, she did various jobs; including a telephone operator, a cook, a bookkeeper/HR Clerk, and various other positions, doing whatever it took, as long as she was able to keep a roof over the heads of her family and food on the table. She lived in various places throughout her life, including Oakley, Jerome, Burley, Rupert, Heyburn, Oregon and Nevada. Helen had many hobbies and interests during her life, including cooking, crocheting, flower gardening, growing house plants, doing puzzles, keeping up on technology, listening to music and dancing, playing pinochle and scrabble, keeping a beautiful home and in her last years was an avid Facebook fan. However, her greatest joy in life was being a mother and a grandmother. Helen was blessed with seven children of her own, Cindy, David, Jim, Susan, Alice, Barbette and Theresa and later adopted two step-sons, Kenny and Donny. It was well known how bright and smart Helen was growing up and in adulthood. If you asked her parents, they always bragged about how smart their little girl was and made sure their grandchildren knew how hard they needed to work to be as smart as their mama. Helen was very quick witted, always had a smile on her face, was full of laughter and fun, had a great sense of humor and made friends wherever she went. But, the one trait that represented her most was her desire and need to be needed. Nothing brought her more satisfaction than being able to help her family in time of need. Growing up, her favorite place to be was in her Grandma and Grandpa Helms’ home. When she was blessed with her own grandchildren, she strived to be as great of a grandparent as she was given. She is survived by four of her children, James (Lisa) Gifford, Susan (Tate) Dockstader, Helen Barbette Wilson (Adrian Juarez), and Theresa Staker, along with her brother Leslie (Leslie Sue) Hunter, her sister LaRae (Clyde) Warren, her sister-in-law Marie Hunter Brown, her sister-in-law Cathy Hunter, 19 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Taylor, her parents, her brothers, Jim and Herb, her son, David Gifford, her daughters, Alice McLaws and Cynthia (Angela) Sanchez, one granddaughter, and two great-grandchildren. She was our greatest angel on earth and will be missed and loved forever.
