Joyce Margaret Hansen Bryan Hoffmann
April 12, 1938 – April 13, 2025
Joyce Hoffmann, age 87, lately of Burley, passed away, Sunday April 13, 2025, at Parkview Care Center in Burley.
Joyce was born April 12, 1938, in Pingree, Idaho to Laurence & Edna Hansen. She was the fourth of their six children: Glenn, Ellen, Marie, Aaron, & Ruth. Growing up she learned the value of work, worked hard and was always actively working until she was no longer able.
In 1956, when she was 18, she met and married Louis Bryan. Together they raised four children: Lynda Durrett, Ronda Funk, Larry Bryan, and Jonni Whitaker. While married to Louis, they lived in various places in Idaho, Oregon, Nevada, California and settled in Moses Lake, Washington.
Joyce and Louis would eventually go their separate ways and divorce. In 1980 Joyce met, dated, and later married Stig Hoffmann, who was her current spouse of 33 years. With Stig, Joyce was able to indulge her love of travel, music, dance and talent in painting. Together they traveled to Europe and lived happily for many years throughout Washington, Alaska, & Idaho, where they owned & managed apartment complexes and Bed and Breakfast.
Joyce’s life was filled with love for people, travel, and family. You could call her a “Jane of all trades” as she had numerous occupations from waitress, builder, piano/organ accompanist, research consultant and event coordinator. She worked for many years in the event industry planning parties, designing backdrops, and doing floral arrangements and decorations for big events and weddings. She also nourished her love of travel by working as a travel agent. She enjoyed being able to go and see new places and meet new people. Always friendly and talkative, she could quickly make new acquaintances and turn them into life-long friends.
Her family was always central in her life. She was loving, kind, and generous. She always liked visiting with everyone and staying current on what family and friends were doing. She loved to attend the grandkids ball games, dance or piano recitals as well as just spending time gardening or talking with them. A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she was always supportive of the missionaries and willing to serve and help her family and fellow ward members. She often shared her talents through Relief Society activities teaching music, cooking or gardening tips.
Joyce is survived by her husband Stig Hoffman, brother, Aaron (Sandra) Hansen of Washington UT, sister, Ruth Mayer of Eagle ID, and her four children: Lynda (Richard) Durrett of Leitchfield KY, Ronda (LeRoy) Funk of Burley ID, Larry (Sally) Bryan of Twin Falls ID, and Jonni (Steve) Whitaker of Poulsbo WA, 16 grandkids, 39 great-grandkids, and 4 great-great grandkids. She is predeceased by her parents Laurence & Edna Hansen, sisters: Marie Hanzel-Larson & Ellen Gorrell, and her brother: Glenn Hansen, and Joyce’s grandson: Kevin Lybbert and granddaughter Melissa Lybbert.
The funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Morrison-Payne Funeral Home, located at 321 E. Main Street in Burley, with Bishop Lee Greer officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery. Family and friends will be received at 9:00 a.m. for a viewing prior to the service at Morrison Payne Funeral Home.
