Juliana Faulds Obituary

Juliana “Chris ” Loretta Faulds passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on December 26, 2019.

Chris was born on October 6, 1927 in Portland, Oregon to her parents Leeworth and Ethel Menter.  She was the eldest of her three siblings:  Ronald, Dorothy and George.

Chris grew up in Gresham, Oregon, enjoying the life of a farm girl.  Her many stories included life on the farm, tending to the farm animals and fruit trees, making pies, sewing her own clothes and playing the piano.

After high school, she went to Oregon State University and then to San Jose State University in California. There she met her husband, Richard Faulds, in an advanced algebra class.  They married on July 12, 1947.  Richard’s career as a pilot with Trans World Airlines took them to New York and California.  Chris worked in the accounting field until her children came along.  She and Richard were blessed with three daughters:  Mary Ellen, Karen and Joyce.

Chris delighted in staying at home with her girls and being a homemaker.  She taught her girls to cook and sew, appreciate garden flowers and pursue a musical instrument.  Most importantly, she introduced her girls to Jesus Christ, faithfully reading the Bible to them and taking them to church.  Chris loved the word of God and participated in church and Bible studies throughout her life.  She especially had a soft spot in her heart for the children’s ministries in her church.

Chris was a wonderful wife and great support to her husband.  She enjoyed their travels worldwide and was his biggest fan when he played in tennis tournaments.  In their retirement years, they built their vacation home in the mountains of Arizona.  Chris especially enjoyed their outdoor hiking adventures when traveling throughout the United States in their RV.

When her husband passed away in 1999, she moved to Burley, Idaho to live near her daughter Karen.  She enjoyed Idaho with its four seasons and country life.

Over the years, age dimmed her mind and slowed her body but never lessened her love for God, her family and friends.  Chris was a sweetheart and will be missed by all who knew her.

Chris is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard, her daughter Joyce Lyons and her brother Ronald Menter.  She is survived by her daughters Mary Ellen Faulds and Karen (Phil) Gilley; her sister Dorothy Fuery and her brother George Whitson; her grandchildren Tamera (Joey) Williams, Heather Houchin, Craig (Kayla) Gilley, Alison (Andrew) Isaacs, Nathan (Karie) Gilley and Lindsay Lyons; and her great-grandchildren Ryan and Kaitlyn Williams, Estella, Hudson and Roman Gilley, Evelyn and Graham Isaacs and Liam Gilley.

Special thanks to the staff at Highland Estates and Hospice Visions for all their loving care.

A private family memorial service is being planned.   Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Payne Funeral Home 321 East Main Street in Burley.
