Mary Ann Callahan Ward 87 of Burley, Idaho passed away Thursday, April 30, 2026 at Woodlawn Retirement Estates in Buhl, Idaho.
Mary Ann was born on December 4, 1938 to Henry Joseph and Sarah Rose Callahan. She had only 1 sister, Linda Rose Callahan.
Mary Ann grew up in Oakley, Idaho and lived there for a large portion of her life. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints. She attended Magic Valley Christian School known today as the Albion Normal School.
She married Terry Dennis Ward on December 2, 1959 in the Logan Temple. Together they had 6 children. Terry Lynn, David William, Kenneth Ray, Rose Ann, Patricia Florence, and Joseph Osmer. Mary Ann and T. Denny moved around a lot for different jobs. They later divorced.
Mary Ann held several different jobs. She managed a gas station, delivered newspapers for Charlie Brown, was a taxi driver, a waitress and others. Her longest job was at Simplots, where she retired following a car accident that left her with numerous injuries and a lot of surgeries. After her accident she moved to Burley.
Mary Ann was proceeded in death by her parents, her sister, Linda, a son Terry Lynn, a great grandson, Parker Joseph Ward. Her survivors include David (Vera-Ellen, Kenneth (Jill), Rose Ann (Ray), Patricia (Jason), Joseph and his wife Adrian. She had 29 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Friday, May 8 from 5-7 p.m. at the Morrison Payne Funeral Home located at 321 E Main St. in Burley. Her funeral will be at 10:00 at the Burley 4th Ward, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 515 East 16th St. Burley, ID. A viewing will take place at the church prior to the funeral at 9:00. The interment will be held at the Elba, Idaho Grand View Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Services are under the direction of Morrison Payne Funeral Home.
