Mary Maxene Wiley, 92, of Rupert, Idaho, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 23, 2016, in Burley, Idaho.
Mary was born in Jordan Valley, Oregon on May 28, 1924, to Charles William and Esther Edna (Woods) Deakins. When she was four her family moved to Midvale, Idaho. She attended grade school and high school there, graduating high school as valedictorian in 1941. She continued her education at the College of Idaho in Caldwell and Mercy Medical Hospital in Nampa, Idaho where she earned a degree in nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1945.
Mary married Wendell L. Dullea in 1946. He was killed in a crop dusting plane accident in 1948 in Ontario, Oregon. She worked as a registered nurse in Ontario before marrying Robert F. Wiley in 1951. They moved to Midvale, Idaho where they ranched for many years. During that time Mary worked as head nurse at the Council, Idaho hospital. In 2002 they sold their ranch and moved to Rupert, Idaho, Robert passed away in 2004.
Mary was a loving, compassionate and always willing to help others. People loved to be in her presence. She was physically active, a fabulous cook, and made her home an enjoyable place for family, friends or anyone who dropped by the ranch. She loved spending time with her family. She requested a celebration of her life on her 90th birthday so she would be able to participate and enjoy the celebration with family and friends, in lieu of a funeral. What a wonderful celebration!
She was musically talented and shared her gift by singing and playing the piano on many occasions. She loved to write poetry and wrote the following:
"MY LAST DAY"
"I think if this were my last day, I would want to spend it with the people I love the most. I would want to assure and reassure them that nothing they have ever done or ever could do would sever my love for them. No problem or disagreement would be worth holding on to, I would just want to enjoy giving them enough love to sustain them after I was gone." "Mom (2010)"
Mary is survived by her four daughters: Deanna Wiley, Logandale, NV; Wendy (Steve) Bott, Rupert, 10; Marcia (Dave) McClure, Pahrump, NV; Carol Allen-Sides (Jim).
