Max V Egan 89 of Burley passed away Friday, December 13, 2024 at Park View Care and Rehabilitation.
Max Ven Leer Egan (1935-2024)
Max Ven Leer Egan was born November 29, 1935 in Richmond Utah to Horace and Edna Egan. Max (known to all of his friends as “Doc”) graduated from Richmond high school in 1954. Max served in the 2nd ARB 51st Infantry Company “B” stationed in Ulm Germany from 1958 – 1960. During the time of his deployment, Max met the love of his life, Edith Florentine Kuhn. Max and Edith were married in June 1961, and settled in Richmond Utah where he worked for the Pet Milk company until it closed. Max and Edith then moved to Burley Idaho with their children (Lori, Maxine, Kathy, and Ron). They later had two more sons (Robert and Kelly). Max worked for the JR Simplot company as a shop mechanic until he retired. Max is preceded in death by his wife Edith and a daughter (Heidi).
Max’s favorite hobby was working on cars. He loved repairing old cars. Max owned a small wrecking yard in Richmond and spent many an hour tinkering on his collection of cars. Every year on the 4th of July, Max and his friends from high school would paint up an old car from the wrecking yard and haul it up to the “NC” located at the top of the hill overlooking Richmond, and at a certain time, they would roll the car off the top of the mountain. The entire town would eagerly wait for this event and watch it from their homes. Max continued his love of working on cars when he moved to Burley and taught all three of his sons how to repair automobiles. All his sons have made a career in automobile repair.
Max and Edith have been blessed with 7 children, 13 grandchildren, and 33 great grandchildren. Max is survived by his children: Lori Fletcher (spouse James), Maxine Egan, Kathy Doyle (spouse Fred), Ron Egan (spouse Debby), Robert Egan (spouse Tammy), and Kelly Egan.
Max has resided at Parkview Rehabilitation Center for the past year. Max passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024. Max’s family would like to thank Parkview for their wonderful staff and facility and the care they have given Max for the past year. Max spoke very fondly about all the people that took care of him during his stay. When asked what his favorite thing about Parkview is, he said “the desserts”.
A graveside service will be held on December 18th, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Richmond Utah Cemetery.
