Michael L. Johnson age 86 went home to heaven to be with his Lord and Savior at 10:28 p.m. Sunday, December 29, 2024 in Burley. He was at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Burley on May 9, 1938 to Alta and Leonard Johnson. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother, and son-in-law. He was known as Pastor too many people at church and at Burley Christian Academy. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Sherry, sons: Matthew Johnson (Burley), Aaron Johnson and wife Jamie (Twin Falls) and daughters, Deborah Johnson Smith and husband Herbert Hillsborough (North Carolina), and Darlene Johnson Keyton. Grandchildren: Michael Phipps (Virginia), Miqueas Johnson (Logan, Utah), Mazin Johnson (Burley), Caleb Schuler (Utah),Hannah Schuler (U.S. Army Germany), Tyler Smith and wife Stephanie (North Carolina). Blaklee and Alexis Johnson (Twin Falls). Great grandchildren Corbin and Callie Smith (North Carolina) and Marie Hernandez (Caldwell Id).

Mike was proceeded in death by his father and mother Leonard and Alta Johnson, his brother Jack Jamison, his sister Jill Johnson Fisher, one granddaughter Tiffany, and one grandson Cameron Smith. Plus many other loved ones.

Mike grew up in Burley. He always talked favorably about his growing up years. There were some years during the depression that were hard for everyone, but he always told us about having plenty to eat. He was educated in Burley at Miller Elementary, Burley Junior High, and Burley High School.

One story he always told about his first day at school. His mom walked him to Miller School, but when the bell rang for recess, he left the school and walked home thinking he was done for the day, of course Mom marched him right back to school.

He graduated from Burley High School  with the class of 1956. This was the first class to graduate from the new school.

After high school he went into the Army from Fort Douglas, Utah to Fort Ord California, and then Fort Lewis, Washington.

The biggest and best event in his life was when he asked Jesus into his heart and life in 1966. A second great event was when he married Sherry Johnson on June 1, 1967. God gave them a
wonderful 57 years together.

Mike worked at Auto Phone for many years working on radios, which he loved. He went to work for the Postal Service where he worked for 23 years. Then he retired.

During these years, the family grew. Matt was born in December 1971 and Aaron,  January 1974. They had lots of fun being rowdy and being boys. Dad was always having to go hunt down his borrowed tools the boys would use. They had a tendency of never putting them back were they belonged. Dad would find them in the lawn or buried in the dirt. There was no lack of love even when discipline was required.

He had a love for radio and repaired many antique ones. He was active throughout the Magic Valley in the Amateur Radio Club. His call sign was WA7 NRP.

After retirement, he also became the chaplain for hospice here in the local area. He was able to spread the gospel and the love of Jesus.

Our family wishes to thank everyone who helped us in this time of hardship. A special thanks to Visions Hospice Care. Especially to Erica Avila for your love and kindness going above and beyond. Thanks also to the Burley Bible Chapel and Calvary Chapel of Burley.
