Roberto Garcia, a 72 year old Burley resident, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at the Veterans Hospital in Boise. He was born on January 17, 1943 in Brownsville, Texas to Leopold and Jesusas Garcia. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and lived in Burley, working as a farm worker. He loved playing poker, fishing and watching golf and Judge Judy on television.
He is survived by his wife, Vaunda Garcia and his children, Robert Jr., Reana (Ernie), Rudy, Randy (Rebecca) and Roy Garcia. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Leo, Manuela, San Juana, and Maggie Garcia; brothers and sisters-in-law, Orval, Marlo, Galien, and Carl Millard, Lorna Metheny and Maxine Brown; grandchildren, Saidies, Zack, Xavier, Sianne, Ramiro, Richard and Julius Garcia, Mario and Danica Barela, Alex, Nicholas and Kyle Menchaca; and great grandchildren, Zane Garcia, Branlee Barela, and Ava Menchaca.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leopold and Jesusa Garcia; grandchildren, Robert and Roman Garcia; a niece, Angelica Martinez; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edward and Saidie Millard and a brother-in-law, Delbert Millard.
The family would like to thank the Boise Veterans Hospital and the Specialty Care Unit for the care given to Roberto.
A visitation with Recitation of the Rosary will take place from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at the Morrison Payne Funeral Home, 321 East Main Street in Burley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church in Burley with burial following at the Paul Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Mini-Cassia Veterans.
