It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sandra “Sandy” K. Bendele, who left us peacefully at her home in Burley, ID, on September 17, 2024, at the age of 76.
Sandy was the beloved wife and best friend of the late Thomas “Tom” Bendele. She was a devoted mother to Richard “Rick” Bendele, Sheila Bendele, and Tamra Bendele, as well as a cherished stepmother to Warren Bendele. Sandy’s pride and joy were her grandchildren—Crystal, Brittney, Austin, Marqus, Tyrel, and Haidyn —and her great-grandchildren, Deegan, Tyler, Quinn, Sophia, and Kehlani “Keke”.
Sandy’s warmth and generosity touched the lives of many, including her nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends. Always ready to lend a helping hand, she loved attending every event for her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Sandy was deeply loved and blessed with the unwavering support of her beloved sisters, whom she cherished with all her heart. Together, they formed an unbreakable bond, always looking out for one another and facing life’s challenges hand in hand. Their love and strength were a testament to the power of family, and the memories they created together will live on in the hearts of all who know them.
She was known for her spirited games of Yahtzee, where her lightning-fast adding skills sometimes bordered on the mischievous. A Tetris master, Sandy enjoyed challenging anyone willing to play. One of her greatest joys was sharing and receiving photos; stopping by her home often led to delightful stories and cherished memories.
Sandy had a love for the slots at casinos and enjoyed bowling, participating in several leagues throughout the years. She even took a memorable trip to Alaska, relishing the beauty of its wildlife and adventures.
Sandy’s love for gardening was one of her greatest joys, and her garden was a reflection of her nurturing spirit. It wasn’t just a garden—it was a sanctuary of beauty and love, tended to with care. In the later years, this shared tradition was passed on and taken over by grandchildren, who learned the joy of nurturing something that would continue to bloom, just like her legacy.
Sandy’s spirit and love will remain with us always, and she will be dearly missed.
In lieu of a funeral service, we will hold a Celebration of Life 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2024 at the Burley Boat Docks. Services are under the direction of Morrison Payne Funeral Home.
